On the Bus.

On the Bus, ink on paper, 8.5" x 11"
After a work meeting, I rode the city bus and used the opportunity to draw the man in front of me.  I am really happy with this sketch.

I do like how the washes add to the drawing.

Sketchbook - On the Bus

So on the bus ride back from Zwick Studio, I managed to get some drawings done. Above is a fun one of a guy sleeping in the aisle across from me. I really like how I rendered his hands crossed in front of his chest.

The bus had to stop for a good 15 minutes because the till broke. I only mention it because I was able to use the long period of not bouncing around to get some very straight crosshatching work done.

On the Bus - Brown and Red

So last weekend I had a meeting for work. It was held in downtown Honolulu and I took the city bus to avoid the nightmare that is parking downtown. Riding the bus is an opportunity to draw. I had mixed results on the bus that day. Above was the best of the trip.

So, on the bus someone asked if I could draw him. Not missing an opportunity, I drew him. His name is Tin, just coming in from the Philippines. He is a student at BYU. His portrait above came out pretty good.

Sketchbook - On the Bus - Red and Brown

Here are a pair of drawings done while riding the Honolulu city bus. I switched to red and a brown ink. I think they look a little better then red and black for these kind of sketches. It still allows for the variation in line and color, but is a little warmer because of the brown.

Above is a woman playing a game on her cell phone. I like how I rendered the playboy bunny logo on her bag.

Above is a student at Kailua High School that catches the bus out to Kaneohe with us. It is a great whole figure sketch. I like the juxtaposition of his rendered figure and the contour lines that create his backpack.

Women on the Handivan

While on the Handivan with a few of my students I did this drawing of some of the other riders.

I am actually very happy with this watercolor. There is a nice glow from the window in the background and the figures look very strong. I also dig how I rendered the ladies outfits.
